Install it in one line — paste a single command into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor and it writes the skill into your project.
Free, and about thirty seconds: a work email and a six-digit code.
Downloading shares your name, firm, role, and email with Anthropic. That introduction is what keeps every skill here free.
What this skill does
Generates a SOX 404 testing workpaper for a control area: the sample pulled and the method behind it, the test steps, and the documentation an external auditor will expect to see.
What it does
- Selects a sample and states the method and size rationale
- Builds the testing workpaper with the test steps written out
- Records results per attribute and identifies exceptions
- Frames the control assessment for reviewer sign-off
When to use it
- Quarterly or annual SOX 404 testing is being planned
- You need a defensible sample for a control and a record of how it was picked
- A workpaper template is needed for revenue, P2P, ITGC, or close controls
- External audit has asked for your testing documentation
What to have ready
- The control area and the period being tested
- The population the sample comes from
- The control description and its stated frequency
- Prior-year testing results, if there were exceptions
How to use it
- Download it with the button above. You'll sign in with a work email — that's how the creator knows who is using their skill.
- Copy the install prompt from the "Run it in Claude" box, and paste it into Claude along with the file. Claude installs the skill, fills in your firm's details where the file has
[BRACKETED]placeholders, and runs a quick test with you. - Then just ask in plain English. Claude picks the skill up on its own when a request matches it. Anything it still needs, it asks you for — it won't invent a number.
"Use the SOX Testing skill on revenue recognition controls for Q4. Population export is attached."
What you get back
A testing workpaper: sample selection with its rationale, test steps per attribute, a results grid, and any exception written up in the form a reviewer expects.
Good to know
- Output quality tracks input quality. A missing figure is flagged as missing — it is never estimated to fill a gap.
- Every draft is a starting point for your own review, not a finished decision.
- Runs anywhere Claude does: the Claude app, Claude Desktop, or Claude Code.
- Part of the Anthropic Finance plugin. Built for corporate accounting, and it applies directly to a lending shop's own books and to fund-level accounting.
