Investor Update Composer
Monthly investor letters assembled from your closed deals and portfolio data.
Install it in one line — paste a single command into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor and it writes the skill into your project.
Free, and about thirty seconds: a work email and a six-digit code.
Downloading shares your name, firm, role, and email with The Helvetica Group. That introduction is what keeps every skill here free.
What this skill does
Builds your monthly or quarterly investor letter from the deals you actually closed and the portfolio data you already have. Everything is assembled into a consistent format an investor can skim in two minutes — and it stops at a draft, so a human always reviews before anything is sent.
What it does
- One clean block per closed deal, with the stats laid out as a table
- Portfolio snapshot, current offerings, market commentary, and housekeeping
- Discloses delinquencies and defaults whenever they appear in the data — it will not omit them
- Turns missing data into an explicit placeholder rather than an estimate
- Draft-only: it will prepare an email draft on your approval, and never sends
When to use it
- The monthly or quarterly investor letter is due
- You want the same letter format every month without rebuilding it each time
- A broker newsletter needs the same treatment as the investor one
- You want closed-deal data pulled in rather than retyped
What to have ready
- The edition — which month or quarter this letter covers
- Closed deals for the period (from your CRM, a spreadsheet, or typed out)
- Any live offerings you want featured
- Your own commentary for the period — the part only you can write
- Portfolio figures: balances, delinquencies, and anything else you report on
How to use it
- Download it with the button above. You'll sign in with a work email — that's how the creator knows who is using their skill.
- Copy the install prompt from the "Run it in Claude" box, and paste it into Claude along with the file. Claude installs the skill, fills in your firm's details where the file has
[BRACKETED]placeholders, and runs a quick test with you. - Then just ask in plain English. Claude picks the skill up on its own when a request matches it. Anything it still needs, it asks you for — it won't invent a number.
"Draft the April investor letter. Closed deals are in the CRM; here's my commentary for the month."
What you get back
A finished newsletter draft in your locked template, saved as a local preview you can read before anything goes out. On your explicit approval it will create an email draft — it never sends.
Good to know
- Output quality tracks input quality. A missing figure is flagged as missing — it is never estimated to fill a gap.
- Every draft is a starting point for your own review, not a finished decision.
- Runs anywhere Claude does: the Claude app, Claude Desktop, or Claude Code.
Legal disclaimer
This skill drafts; it does not decide. Its output is not legal, tax, accounting, appraisal, or investment advice, and using it creates no attorney-client, fiduciary, or advisory relationship. Nothing it produces is a commitment to lend or an offer to sell a security. Verify every number, date, citation, and conclusion against the source documents, and have a qualified professional licensed in the relevant jurisdiction review the work before you rely on it or send it to a borrower, investor, counterparty, or regulator. Laws, rates, and market data change. The final work product is yours.
Inside this skill
The actual file you get. Members can read it in full before saving it.
What This Skill Does
Runs the full monthly newsletter assembly as a single orchestrated flow. A marketing sub-agent owns the creative; a CRM sub-agent pulls deals; a research sub-agent (validated by a fact-checking sub-agent) pulls market intel. The user stays in the loop only at two points: commentary and final approval. Everything else is automatic.
Brand reference: keep a brand-guidelines document and cite it here (fonts, colors, tagline).
- Fonts: [YOUR HEADLINE FONT] (headlines/editorial) · [YOUR BODY FONT] (body/UI) · [YOUR MONO FONT] (data/labels)
- Colors: [YOUR BRAND PALETTE — hex values from your brand guide]
- Audience tagline (investor edition): [YOUR INVESTOR TAGLINE] — never use the broker tagline in this newsletter
- Investor voice: measured, confident, quantified — thesis → math → risk. No exclamation points. Claims require figures + source.
Hard rules — non-negotiable:
- Template is locked. The one and only design is your canonical template file (e.g.,
marketing/templates/investor-newsletter-monthly.html). Never generate newsletter HTML from scratch. Never substitute a different template. Never "improve" the layout, colors, fonts, table structure, or section order. Only fill{{TOKENS}}. Structural edits are limited to the explicit surgical operations listed in §4 (deleting unused deal/offering blocks, injecting the SAMPLE banner). If the template file is missing, STOP and alert the user — do not fall back to ad-hoc HTML. - Draft-only. Never send email. Never trigger direct mail. Never publish to social.
- The user approves every send. The skill stops at preview and waits for explicit approval before touching Gmail.
- Real data, not fabricated. Unless run as a
--samplepreview, stats/deals/offerings come from actual systems. No invented numbers in production sends. - Borrower anonymization is default. Never disclose borrower names unless the user explicitly clears a specific name that month.
- Research always routes through validation. Never fabricate market stats or news; always validate research output before it enters the newsletter.
Inputs (ask the user upfront)
Compact single prompt:
Edition: investor (broker variant not yet built — will error if selected) Month/Year: (default: next calendar month) Mode: real | sample (default: real)
