Copy Editing

Tighten and fix existing lender marketing copy — web pages, emails and one-pagers

Free · v1.0.0

Install it in one line — paste a single command into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor and it writes the skill into your project.

Free, and about thirty seconds: a work email and a six-digit code.

Screened

Downloading shares your name, firm, role, and email with Corey Haines. That introduction is what keeps every skill here free.

What this skill does

Takes copy you already have — a loan-program page, a broker email, a one-pager — and makes it clearer, sharper and more believable in a series of focused passes. Also refreshes old blog posts and pages that have gone stale.

What it does

  • Edits in passes: clarity, voice, proof, specificity, emotion, risk
  • Swaps jargon for plain English using a built-in word list
  • Flags claims that need proof or could overpromise
  • Refreshes outdated content without starting over
  • Explains each change so your team learns the pattern

When to use it

  • A page or email reads flat or confusing
  • Before sending new marketing to print or to your list
  • Old blog posts need updating
  • Several people wrote a page and it shows

What to have ready

  • The copy to edit
  • Who reads it and what you want them to do
  • Your brand voice, if written down
  • Anything that must stay word for word — legal language, disclosures

How to use it

  1. Download it with the button above. You'll sign in with a work email — that's how the creator knows who is using their skill.
  2. Copy the install prompt from the "Run it in Claude" box, and paste it into Claude along with the file. Claude installs the skill, fills in your firm's details where the file has [BRACKETED] placeholders, and runs a quick test with you.
  3. Then just ask in plain English. Claude picks the skill up on its own when a request matches it. Anything it still needs, it asks you for — it won't invent a number.

"Edit our [LOAN PROGRAM] page for clarity and credibility — it's written for [AUDIENCE] and needs to get more brokers to submit deals."

What you get back

Edited copy with tracked changes and short notes on why each change was made.

Good to know

  • Output quality tracks input quality. A missing figure is flagged as missing — it is never estimated to fill a gap.
  • Every draft is a starting point for your own review, not a finished decision.
  • Runs anywhere Claude does: the Claude app, Claude Desktop, or Claude Code.
  • Leave required disclosures and licensing language exactly as your counsel wrote them. Watch for claims like "guaranteed approval" or "no credit check" that are only acceptable if strictly true and compliant. The editing passes push for specific numbers and turn times — use only figures your firm can document, never invented ones, and have rate or term language reviewed by compliance.

Legal disclaimer

This skill drafts; it does not decide. Its output is not legal, tax, accounting, appraisal, or investment advice, and using it creates no attorney-client, fiduciary, or advisory relationship. Nothing it produces is a commitment to lend or an offer to sell a security. Verify every number, date, citation, and conclusion against the source documents, and have a qualified professional licensed in the relevant jurisdiction review the work before you rely on it or send it to a borrower, investor, counterparty, or regulator. Laws, rates, and market data change. The final work product is yours.

Skill name
copy-editing
What it does
When the user wants to edit, review, or improve existing marketing copy, or refresh outdated content. Also use when the user mentions 'edit this copy,' 'review my copy,' 'copy feedback,' 'proofread,' 'polish this,' 'make this better,' 'copy sweep,' 'tighten this up,' 'this reads awkwardly,' 'clean up this text,' 'too wordy,' 'sharpen the messaging,' 'refresh this content,' 'update this page,' 'this content is outdated,' or 'content audit.' Use this when the user already has copy and wants it improved or refreshed rather than rewritten from scratch. For writing new copy, see copywriting.

Changes made by LenderSkills: None to the skill text. The upstream references/ folder
(checklist.md, content-refresh.md, plain-english-alternatives.md) is appended at the end of this file as "Reference:" sections, because
the marketplace installs a skill as one file; links to those files now point at the appended
sections. Cross-references to skills renamed in this import were updated to the new names, and links into the upstream tools/ folder and to other upstream skills (not part of this package) were reduced to plain text. Evals were not included. A legal disclaimer is appended at the end of the file.
Otherwise the author's content is unmodified.
